ELVIS CABRERA

ELVIS CABRERA. The Route of the Huaso.

Elvis is a young artisan of chupallas and hats; and the face behind La Sombrerería, his Santa Cruz store. Heir to a family tradition, the art of making hats is in his blood. His family had the first hat shop in the commune, back in the '70s. Raised in the trade, this son of a hatter father and a weaver mother learned how to last at the age of 12. In addition, he is the nephew of one of the most skilled braiders in Santa Cruz, who has her origins in San Pedro de Alcántara, Laura Inés Cabrera. Currently, it has been dedicated to making hats and chupallas for more than 25 years. He has participated in different exhibitions, such as the Live Museum Patrimonial Fair Expo, and like other colleagues, he complements his activity with the sale of huaso tools. He is a true ambassador of the traditions of deep Chile.
